Maple Base with walnut inlay.
Base is cut to general shape and then the “negative“ is cut for the inlay. Next the ”positive” is cut from the walnut. The two are glued and placed in a 15-ton press overnight to insure a good bond. The product is removed from the press and the walnut shaved then sanded to insure a smooth finish. Everything is then finished with mineral oil to give an attractive, food safe finish.
